Acoustical Oceanography Laboratory led by Professor Huang Chen-Fen has achieved outstanding results through cross-college collaboration within the university. Under her guidance, three students participated in the Student Poster Competition at the UT2025 (Underwater Technology 2025) International Symposium held in Taipei, Taiwan, winning two first prizes and one third prize. This symposium, organized by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, has developed into an important international platform for scholars, students, and experts in underwater technology to exchange research results since its first conference in Tokyo in 1998.
Award-Winning Students
- Chen Yen-Hsiang (Department of Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering, co-supervised with Professor Kuo Chen-Hua), won first place in the Underwater Acoustics and Communication group with his research topic “Comparison of Regularization Methods for Multipath Mitigation in Mirror-Type Coastal Acoustic Tomography.”
- Huang Hsiang-Chuan (Department of Civil Engineering, co-supervised with Associate Professor Chan Ying-Chieh), won first place in the Environmental Sensing group with her research topic “Parameter Selection for Using Permutation Entropy in Cetacean Whistle Detection.”
- Ho Chien-Yu (Institute of Oceanography), won third place in the Underwater Acoustics and Communication group with his research topic “Robustness Analysis of Frequency-Difference Methods for Shallow-Water Source Localization Under Water Depth Mismatch.”
