Otolith microstructures and \u03b418O showed different migratory patterns, e.g., migration timing and distances, among species.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_994\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-994\" style=\"width: 530px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oc.ntu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Research-Highlights_Jay_01.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-994\" title=\"conceptual-diagram\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oc.ntu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Research-Highlights_Jay_01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"326\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-994\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(\u5716\u4e00) \u9577\u5c3e\u9c48\u79d1\u4ed4\u9b5a\u53ca\u5e7c\u5e74\u9b5a\u7684\u5782\u76f4\u5411\u4e0b\u9077\u79fb\u6a21\u5f0f\u7684\u6982\u5ff5\u5716\u3002\u4ed4\u9b5a\u53ef\u80fd\u5728\u6c89\u964d\u6642\u6216\u5230\u9054\u6d77\u5e95\u6642\u8b8a\u614b\uff0c\u4e26\u4e14\u7269\u7a2e\u4e4b\u9593\u6703\u6709\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u9077\u79fb\u8ddd\u96e2\u3002<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0967063711002378\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0967063711002378<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Research topic 2 \u2013Eutrophication reduce diversity of demersal fish in East China Sea.<\/h2>\n<p>Through oceanographic surveys for several years, we find that the inshore area of the East China Sea, corresponding to the prohibited zone for trawling, had extremely high nutrient concentrations and low dissolved oxygen. The diversity index of demersal fish showed significantly negative correlations with nutrient concentrations and positive correlations with bottom-water dissolved oxygen. The inshore area of the East China Sea was heavily dominated by small-sized fishes, reflecting low survival of most fish species. These findings suggest that eutrophication and subsequent hypoxia could have limited fish population growth in the trawling prohibition area of the East China Sea despite of absence of fishery operations. Therefore, a multi-pronged fishery management plan that involves both fishing restriction and environmental improvement is urgently needed in the East China Sea.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1001\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1001\" style=\"width: 826px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oc.ntu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Research-Highlights_Jay_02.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1001\" title=\"jay\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oc.ntu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Research-Highlights_Jay_02.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"826\" height=\"626\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1001\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(\u5716\u4e8c) \u5bcc\u71df\u990a\u5316\u8207\u5e95\u68f2\u9b5a\u7fa4\u95dc\u4fc2\u7684\u6982\u5ff5\u5716\u3002\u865b\u7dda\u8868\u793a\u76f4\u63a5\u8207\u9593\u63a5\u7684\u8ca0\u5f71\u97ff\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u6709\u6bd2\u7684\u4e8c\u7d1a\u4ee3\u8b1d\u7269\u3001\u6709\u906e\u853d\u7684\u74b0\u5883\u4ee5\u53ca\u4f4e\u6eb6\u6c27\u7684\u74b0\u5883(&lt; 3 mg l-1)\uff0c\u7070\u8272\u68af\u5ea6\u8868\u793a\u8457\u9577\u6c5f\u6c34\u5f9e\u6cbf\u5cb8\u4ea4\u63db\u5230\u9060\u6d0b\u7684\u5f71\u97ff\u7bc4\u570d\u3002\u5728\u4e09\u5cfd\u5927\u58e9\u7684\u5b8c\u5de5\u5f8c\uff0c\u9577\u6c5f\u6c34\u4ea4\u63db\u5f71\u97ff\u7684\u5340\u57df\u7e2e\u5c0f\u3002<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0278434312001677\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0278434312001677<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Research topic 3 \u2013 Rapid identification of tuna species by real-time PCR technique.<\/h2>\n<p>We develop species-specific probes and primers for rapid and high-throughput identification of tuna species. The probe and primer are designed to amplify the mitochondrial genes. This assay can be applied to fresh, alcohol preserved and canned samples.
