Given differential levels of warming and dependence on fisheries production among nations, which regions are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change on fisheries productivity? Furthermore, what are the effects of climate change and fishing on fishes? In this talk, I will provide a synthesis to identify the region(s) of great concerns of the effects of climate change on fisheries production. Also, I will describe warming and fishing effects on fish populations based on recent results of our projects. Because life-history traits (e.g., growth and mortality rates) are sensitive to temperature changes and are important determinants of population dynamics, we explore warming effects on these traits for Pacific fishes using a meta-analysis modeling framework. This analysis reveals significant warming effects on life histories; i.e., decreased body sizes and increased growth and mortality rates with increasing temperature. Such warming effects on life histories provide implications for designing sustainable fishing regulation in the context of climate
