Dr. Fietz’s research focuses on the effect of trace metals on phytoplankton productivity in the Southern Ocean, which plays an important role in the global carbon cycle. In the talk she will share with us her ongoing research, as well as short videos showing how sampling is done in the sea-ice off Antarctica and what goes on in a trace metal analysis “clean" laboratory.
